Surreal Sunset Blue 1280x1024

I've *tried* to create a 4:3 version of the surreal sunset... set. Any tips from any more experienced ps'ers and gimp'ers on transforming widescreen to standard? I just tried to replicate the process all over agian... and I don't like it too much. :-/
